Capitol Reef and Zion National Parks trip
Lucy developed our road trip plan to visit Capitol Reef and Zion National Parks over 7 days. She also added stops at Utah state parks including Goblin Valley, Anasazi, Escalante Petrified Forest, and Kodachrome Basin, all in line along Routes 24 and 12 as we drove to Capitol Reef and then Zion. At Capitol Reef, she found us a place to stay in one of the luxury guest cabins at a working ranch near Torrey, which was fun and close to the park. Also, her recommendations of things to see and do included, among others, the Petroglyph Panel, the Capitol Gorge Tanks Trail, and the Fremont Gorge Overlook Trail. All these activities maximized our enjoyment during our stay there. At Zion National Park, her hotel suggestion in Springdale was conveniently located at a Park Shuttle Bus stop and was near popular dining and shopping options. The hotel was comfortable and reasonably priced. Her “must see” suggestions for Zion including hiking the West Run Trail to the Angels Landing overlook, the Lower and Upper Emerald Pools trails, and doing the Riverside Walk at the Narrows. All suitable hikes for an older couple, or those not looking for strenuous hikes. She also directed us to the Canyon Overlook Trail on the east side of the park, and a little-known exceptional
petroglyph site near the eastern entrance to the park. Lucy’s trip planning insured that we wasted little time as we hit the high points of our stay at Zion. We have only mentioned some of the highlights of this trip from the detailed plans that Lucy provided. Not having previously visited any of these places, Lucy’s guidance led to a memorable vacation with a minimum amount of wasted time and effort. We fully recommend her travel planning service.

Bryce Canyon and Grand Canyon National Parks
Lucy put together a combined road trip to see both Bryce Canyon and Grand Canyon National Parks in one week. It’s possible to drive from Bryce Canyon to Grand Canyon in about five hours, leaving time to stop, if you want, along the way near Page, AZ to see both the Glen Canyon Dam and the Horseshoe Bend in the Colorado River. She made reservations for us at the Bryce Canyon Lodge and the Bright Angel Lodge at the Grand Canyon. At Bryce we drove along the canyon rim to visit all the popular pullouts to view the canyon. At Lucy’s suggestion we did one of the popular hikes down into the canyon starting from the lodge. It was a hike of only moderate difficulty and maximized the views from the canyon rim and the descent to the canyon floor and the climb back out. The next day we hiked the Rim Trail from the lodge to Bryce Point and returned on the shuttle bus. Lucy’s planning allowed us to optimize the time we had available at
Bryce Canyon. At the Grand Canyon, Lucy listed to best stops to see along the South Rim starting from the Watchtower near the eastern entrance and extending west to Hermits Rest past the Grand Canyon Village. The high point of our visit was the two-day mule ride down the Bright Angel Trail to spend a night at Phantom Ranch. Lucy did the legwork to get us reservations for this “bucket list” travel experience. It was an exciting adventure riding the sure-footed mules along the steep trail down and then back up the next day. The cabins at Phantom Ranch were comfortable, but rustic enough to make it a true western experience. The family-style steak dinner at Phantom Ranch was excellent, adding to the pleasure of our western adventure. Lucy knows her way around southern Utah and northern Arizona. We enthusiastically recommend her travel planning for these national park gems.
